background colours and see-through shadow border05/02/2018
normally this box here's a real dark grey and the borders to the left, top and corner are a solid grey-to-black gradient picture repeated with css to make it look like a shadow that's been cast. because of that, changing the background colour makes the borders look fucky.
turns out there's a nice css option called opacity that makes anything you want on a page see-through, or tranclucent if you want to be all fancy. using that on the shadow borders lets us get away with changing the colour of this box we're in.
you can even use crappy background images for that proper web 1.0 look and the shadows still look nice and shit. :)
